Fluid engineering
Fluid engineering offers a vast field where ceramics have many applications, especially in cases where fluids are corrosive, abrasive, or operated at high temperatures.
The high chemical stability, hardness and temperature resistance of engineering ceramics make them suitable materials for the manufacture of mechanical seals, pump components, valves, caps and bushes where the components need durability even in extreme work situations.
The high compressive strength of ceramics with the possibility of very fine surface finishes allow the manufacture of components that must withstand high pressures and need mobility.
For these applications alumina, zirconia and silicon carbide are used.
