Zirconia
Zirconia, also called "ceramic steel", is a material that offers unique properties compared with other ceramics in terms of bending strength. It also has a high density, low thermal conductivity (20% of alumina), high chemical stability and high hardness and abrasion resistance.
It is used primarily where high resistance to bending is required.
Its small particle size allows a very good surface finish and the possibility of producing very sharp pieces.
In Apceram we produced components of yttria and magnesia stabilized zirconia.
