Silicon carbide

Silicon carbide is one of the hardest materials known to man, and this makes it a suitable material for wear resistant applications.

It has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion and a high thermal conductivity, it is also capable of supporting loads up to 1700 º C. These properties make it an excellent refractory at high temperatures.

Other features of silicon carbide are its low density, high stability against chemical attack and the possibility for high quality surface finishes.
