Chemical and pharmaceutical industry
In addition to high hardness and high temperature resistance, technical ceramics exhibit high chemical stability, in other words, a very good resistance to chemical attack or corrosion.
Applications depend on how aggressive the environment is, both in terms of chemical corrosion and possible wear abrasion, which load has to bear, whether there is static or dynamic loads or the need to avoid contamination, and whether or not items should be light or heavy, determines the specific materials used.
Ceramics to be used for these applications can be very diverse and all grades of 96-99% alumina, zirconia YPSZ and silicon carbide are used.
