Wear

Technical ceramics are characterized by high hardness. This makes them very suitable materials for wear applications.

The choice of a specific ceramic for each application is determined by many factors, such as whether the application is static or dynamic, mechanical effort required, the need to keep the process free of certain contaminants, temperature of use, etc.

Normally the materials used for these applications are 92% alumina, MgPSZ and YPSZ zirconia and silicon carbide.
